Professor Makeba Jones Honored as a Distinguished Member of the NSCS

Professor Makeba Jones was named a Distinguished Member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an organization that recognizes high achievement and honors among undergraduates. Professor Jones was nominated by a former student because she upholds the motto of NSCS -“inspire, honor and engage”- through her teaching and impact on students.

EDS introduces a new Ph.D. program with a focus on Transforming Education in a Diverse Society

Education Studies is starting a new Ph.D. program at UC San Diego with a focus on Transforming Education in a Diverse Society. The program features include:

  • A commitment to promoting equity and social justice
  • A focus on designing solutions for pressing problems in education
  • A multi-disciplinary approach to training educational researchers focusing on close collaboration with educators, policymakers, and the community
